What is Lickert Scale

The Likert Scale is a 5- or 7-point scale that offers a range of answer options — from one extreme attitude to another, like “extremely likely” to “not at all likely.” Typically, they include a moderate or neutral midpoint.

Likert scales are widely used to measure attitudes and opinions with a greater degree of nuance than a simple “yes/no” question. Likert scale is very effective as compared to binary answer questions because Lickert scale questions are one of the most reliable ways to measure opinions, perceptions, and behaviors.

Example :

How helpful was the content presented at the professional event?

  • Extremely helpful
  • Very helpful
  • Somewhat helpful
  • Not so helpful
  • Not at all helpful
